Mangenius Mortifies Much Maligned Raiders

=========== The Penguin says: "Playoffs?!?" ==============

They came. They saw. They crushed.
It was a good day to be a J-E-T-S fan yesterday. Yeah, we all know that Oakland's offense couldn't move the ball on a Pop Warner team, but the Jets did what they've done all season: beat the teams they're supposed to beat. In what was basically a Meadowlands Mardi Gras, the Jets played 60 minutes of smart, efficient (yes not exactly exciting) football to send the Raiders off into the Brady Quinn sweepstakes with their 2-14 record.
The 23-3 victory capped a delightfully surprising season in which Mean Green's preseason expectations called for a 5-11 or 6-10 season culminating in a high draft pick to rebuild what was expected to be an inexperienced jumble of unimpressive players. Mangini has helped to change the culture of the Jets organization into that of a respectable adversary that can be expected to play close games regardless of the level of competition. Up next on the menu is a playoff showdown between Teacher and Pupil as the Penguin takes on the Caveman and his New England Patriots 1pm on Sunday. Bring 'em on!
