The Mets are trying to use Erik Bedard to scare the Twins into thinking they value the Canadian lefty - who's never thrown 200 innings in a season - more than Santana.

Having control of Bedard until 2010 is nice, but it doesn't make him an equal to Santana, as some have opined. Also remember that Bedard is self-proclaimed recluse. Hermits and New York City don't mix too well.
