Pettitte Scratched With Elbow Tendinitis

Andy Pettitte will skip today's start due to what was deemed "mild elbow tendinitis." Apparently the injury is minor enough that Pettitte thought he could still pitch today and the Yankees said he will make his next start in five days.

From LoHud:
Pettitte felt the pain during his bullpen session on Sunday. Girardi didn’t know about it until yesterday, an indication of how minor it is. Pettitte wanted to pitch today but was overruled. “Y’all know how it is,” he said. “They’re extremely cautious here.”
Pettitte said on WFAN yesterday that last year was the first time in several seasons that his elbow was completely healthy all year. Guess he didn't knock wood. No one has to analyze how important it is for Pettitte to remain healthy and pitch well this season. He is the anchor of an already unpredictable rotation.
