Ed Coleman of WFAN just reported the Mets and Red Sox are close to a one-for-one deal involving Coco Crisp and Angel Pagan. This deal doesn't seem to make much sense for either side other than Boston's shedding payroll and paving the way for Jacoby Ellsbury.
Crisp is making over $10 million the next two years and though he switch-hits, Coco is much better from the left side. As a result, the Mets have not addressed their need for a righty bat while the Red Sox surrender an elite defensive centerfielder for a decent bench player. Not to mention the presence of Carlos Beltran as New York's everyday centerfield solution.
